First I want to welcome all my new followers! It is so nice to see new faces on my blog. (Well, at least I see many new names!). I apologize to my regular followers for the long period of silence through the holidays. I think this strange new world is getting to everyone. I hope you and yours are well and that you’ve found ways to deal with the changes in our day-to-day life.
As I’ve mentioned before, I fill my days making baby quilts with no specific goal other than the fact that small quilts made with joyful fabrics make me smile. I had originally thought I would open a shop on Etsy but am thinking I might just save the quilts until the world reopens and get a table at a few craft shows. It will be nice to ‘mingle’ again!! Or they may all become donation quilts. They at least served their original purpose of keeping me entertained for the past year.
So, I’ll bet you are waiting to hear about the free books and here I am rambling on about baby quilts. (Maybe I’ll attach a few pictures of the quilts at the end).

On February 13th (2021), just two weeks from today, a winner will be chosen using Random.org’s computer-generated randomness. The winner will be notified by email and I will sign all eleven books in the current series and get them in the mail to you right away.
And as an added bonus, I will send the winner Book #12, Frayed Edges: a quilting cozy when it comes out on June 26, 2021, and you will have the entire set!
And for those of you who are waiting for #12, we’ll do a free drawing for the new book in May and have five winners! (If you’ve pre-ordered Frayed Edges from Amazon or the publisher, you will have time to cancel the order if you win the book).
I know I mentioned including some baby quilt pictures, but I think I’ll do that in a few days. Let’s just take care of getting signed up for the drawing today.

I burst out laughing when I got to the word ‘turtle.’ That’s adorable. I was about 50 years older than that when I started quilting but I think I’m catching up. I love quilting and it’s sure pulled me through these rough days at home full time. Thank you for letting me know about your turtle quilt. Such a sweet story.

Carol you have been fortunate! What a lovely way to pass your time making baby quilts! It will be interesting to see what you do with them. I try to always have a couple of boy and girl baby quilts on hand because someone always needs a quilt in a hurry in my circle of friends or family. I’ve spent this past year making masks, doing some lovely pattern tests for wonderful designers, reading, taking care of my DH who has MS, recuperating from having contracted Covid-19, and trying to keep active with my Guild. We can not have in person meetings and classes so my quilting students get on line tutoring, one on one via FaceTime. Winning your wonderful books (and being able to enjoy them over and over) would be the perfect pick me up with all that has gone on this year. I’m looking forward to seeing your photos of your quilts and agree that machine binding is not my forte either.
Thank you so much for your interesting comments. I’ve loved making these baby quilts and I think I will be trying out a couple of craft shows once it is safe. I’ve already given away some and I’m sure I’ll be donating some. I got them all photographed today so will do the baby quilt blog within the next few days.

Good Morning Carol! Please put me in the hat… well, not me but my name 🙂 for your complete autographed collection. My collection is getting worn out as I keep giving them to my quilty friends to read. Although there is something to be said for well worn books, I’d love to have a pristine set on my bookshelf, especially an autographed set. Looking forward to your baby quilt post. I’m attempting mini quilts this week. Finished measurements are in the 12×18 range. Wish me luck!

I’m curious about the baby quilts you are making, are those crib size or larger? Several years ago one of my quilt guilds decided the charity quilts we make for children should be closer to 70 inches long. That way a child can wrap themselves in the quilt. I was just curious as to how other guilds handle it. Obviously we could make more if they are crib size. Just would like another opinion from someone in the quilting world. Thanks.
I make mine approximately 36″ x 46″. It fits a crib but is small enough for the toddler to drag around for years to come…as we know they do. My son ended up with only a small piece of binding left from his first quilt and he would not accept a replacement.
Re size, I stay within 40″ for the width so I don’t need to piece the back.

I love these books. Character development is great and they are always true to their character throughout the books. Funny, informative story lines. Keep them coming.
I really appreciate your comments, Karen. I am not a writer and didn’t write these until I was in my seventies so knew nothing about character development but these characters grew on their own as I wrote about them…just a natural progression I guess. As for ‘informative’, I will admit I tried to present one aging issue that Sarah and Sophie grappled with in each book just to be able to talk about alternative solutions. Thanks for noticing!!

I’m really enjoying making these quilts. I tried to machine hem one today and made a terrible mess. Had to cut 1/2″ off the quilt all the way around. Back to needle and thread. Hemming is not my favorite part!

I would love to win this series. My mom was a quilter and I remember watching her quilt. She died on my birthday in 2015. I have a couple of her quilts. I love reading about quilting and enjoy reading about the Amish.
You just might to give quilting a try one day. Quilt shops usually have classes and I’ve learned so much on YouTube, particularly Missouri Star videos.
We just moved into a “lively” senior community this month and I’m a quilter who loves cozy mysteries so thus series is right up my alley! I look forward to seeing your baby quilts.

Hi Carol please enter me in the drawing. I have read a few of your books and would like more. On the baby quilt scene I totally understand. I have been making small quilts for Teen Parent connection. Our guild started this and it is a great way to make small quilts and use up some fabric.
We quilts have a fantastic way to keep ourselves occupied during these unusual times. And we all have plenty of fabric tucked away in every corner of the sewing room so we don’t even have to go shopping. It’s a perfect time for making scrap quilts…we can get way ahead on our gift-giving too!

You have my original self-published books from Amazon. C&T publishing took them over, proofed them (sorry about the typos), and added the patterns and new covers. The new ones are much improved! But the stories are the same. They didn’t ask me to make any changes.

Have all the books on my kindle, but would love the books. Prefer to read a book I can feel and touch but finally did get a kindle.
I understand about the Kindle, but at my age I’m having trouble remembering who’s who and I love being able to click on the name I don’t recognize and go back to when he/she was introduced.
