Cozy up with Sarah and her friends for more murder, quilting, and community

When sixty-eight-year-old Sarah Miller moves into the Cunningham Village retirement community, she is mourning the loss of her husband and the place that has been home for forty-two years. But Sarah is a survivor. As she reaches out into the retirement community that is to become home, she finds friends, activities, new hobbies, and a love interest.

The highly anticipated eleventh installment of this series of cozy mysteries begins with an appearance from Austin Bailey, renowned country singer—but before his concert can get off the ground, a young girl is murdered, and Sarah and her feisty cohort are hot on the case!

Beneath Missouri Stars is being released this month, May 25, 2020, and is available on Amazon for pre-order.

I know this has been a rough period for all of us. You haven’t heard much from me because I just haven’t felt like writing, but I’ve been thinking about my readers and my blogging friends and hope you are all doing well.

I’ve been spending my time making baby quilts. I wanted to sew but didn’t feel ambitious enough to take on a large quilt. Baby quilts are such fun to plan and make. I currently have ten completed and am wondering what to do with them. I may create an Etsy.com shop. I’ll do a separate blog about this and include pictures. It’s been a good way to keep my mind active because it included not just the planning and the piecing, but also learning how to do my own quilting, thanks to YouTube!

My very best wishes to everyone. Don’t forget I’m here if you want to share what’s been going on in your life, ask questions about me or my books, or just ventilate. QuiltingCozy@gmail.com comes directly to my personal computer at home. I look forward to hearing from you.

Now, don’t forget to scroll down to the COMMENTS section and leave a few words so you’ll have a chance to win the signed books. I’ll email you if you are one of the winners. (If you already have these books, they will make a great gift.)

  1. Just took up quilting at 72 this winter and your was the first YouTube video I watched. Thanks for all you do to help nourish our soul.

  2. Have been making masks to donate to local nursing homes and assisted living communities…..

  3. I just found out about you thru Pat Sloan . She gave a list of authors with quilting in the story. Can’t wait to read your books.

  4. Quilting is my passion! I’ve retired and bought a long arm. I quilt my tops, make more, read about quilting and do a few quilts for others (to help pay for my habit), I’ve love to have this collection to read and savor,

  5. I started quilting on my honeymoon 41 years ago when I went to Punxsutawney PA to meet my new husband’s grandmother. I left with a copy of a pattern and a brown paper bag full of scraps to make a double wedding ring quilt – took me 5 years to piece and hand quilt. During this quarantine time I have been working on My quilt projects, crocheting (I make blankets for local NICU), and I made masks for my family members. I like to keep busy and do all crafts that involve a needle and/or thread. I love the more traditional patterns and touching fabric!

  6. Your books sound good. I’m a newly retired nurse, but still doing per diem. Plan to do lots of sewing and quilting, currently doing an online workshop for weaving narrow bands.

  7. I am a 69 yo social worker, working from home right now. Have been working on masks for friends and family. Started quilting 4 yrs ago.

  8. I have been spending some time during this pandemic playing with fabric painting. Thank you for the chance at winning …. what a wonderful gift.

  9. Being a new retiree and a not-so-new quilter I would love to meet some new literary friends to spend this quarantine with. Thank you for the opportunity!

  10. I’m looking forward to reading this newly discovered series! I would love to win the series. Have struggled with loneliness and motivation during this time, but have recently been able to get quilting!

  11. Love the Cozy series books I have read so far. A quilt lesson is an added bonus! Thank you for the chance at the Cozies!

  12. Sharon Rose

I would love to win a set of your wonderful books. I am waiting for #11!! I would give this set to my daughter in law in NC. She loves to read your books when she is here at my home visiting. You are so gifted in your writing and of course, in your quilting.

  13. I’ve been quilting for over 30 years – it’s my passion! Would love to read these cozy mystery books!!

  14. Your work is beautiful!! I have made three quilts. One for our daughter before she was born, two others for our two nephews. I bought some nice printed fabrics and simple quilted the outlines of the designs. Maybe I could learn to piece a quilt with your books.
Thank you for your kind generosity. Thank goodness for Amazon!!

  15. I am thankful that I am retired, with grown kids that were not about ready to graduate and all the things those kids have had to miss this spring. We are weathering with some boredom but there is always plenty of quilts (and masks) to be made!

  16. Did not realize there were books available. Love the quilt on the cover, it is beautiful. Will look for your books.

  17. Love to read books about quilts. Library closed now so can’t get any new ones to read. Getting supplies ready to start quilting, start by making small quilts and wall hangings.

  18. I would love to win the series! They are the best cozy mysteries I have read. Sarah and Sophie feel like old friends.

  19. I just started quilting about 1-1/2 years ago. Quilting is my new passion, asmy previous passion is too hard on my body now. That would be Judo, which for 38 years has been part of who I am. I entered my first quilted project, a table center square I created for a friend, and won the 2nd place ribbon! I haven’t done much during the quarantine time, but I did finish some blocks, and started my two granddaughters’ quilts. I would love to win your books. Getting back to reading would be easier with books I could enjoy … A good whodunit mixed in with something I enjoy, quilting! It’s a win!

  20. I learn to quilt in 2013, while taking care of my beloved hubby. I have been working on my mystery quilts and quilt kits, so I can get by large quilt to the long arm to complete. One day I will be a longarm, I do my small ones.
I started a quilt series in 2019, enjoyed it. I would love to be able to read this series Please be safe and stay healthy. Trudy

  21. I have been making quilt tops for Project Linus. I have also been making some masks for family and friends.
I would really really really love to win your books. Thank you. Kathie

  22. I’ve been making masks for Our Community Health Clinic, family and neighbors. I also quilted on my domestic machine a graduation quilt (still need to bind). While going through stash for mask fabric, I pulled fabrics for doll quilts to give to Salvation Army for Christmas toy give-away

  23. Lots of long naps on the couch watching TV and finishing up some UFO’s and sewing and ripping one new quilt pattern. Don’t watch TV while doing a complicated layout!

  24. I’m babysitting with the grands 2 days a week and getting a lot of quilts finished up. Also doing much more cooking, which has turned out to be fun!

  25. Hey Carol
Just wanted you to know Beneath Missouri Stars arrived today. I have been so looking forward to it.
What perfect timing too. Starting tomorrow we have rain predicted thru Saturday. The quilt in this book might be my next project. I have not been in a fabric store since mid March.
Pam tells me you are busy working on a very crafty
    venture.
Love and Hugs Cecilia, Pam’s friend.

    • Hi Cecilia, you’ve been on my mind lately, wondering how you’re getting along during these unusual times. I’ve been in my sewing room most days making baby quilts and on YouTube learning how to do my own quilting. I’m about ready to give up on free-motion, but have been pretty successful with straight line quilting. I have a dozen baby quilts finished and am going to begin looking into getting an Etsy.com shop for them…or perhaps I’ll wait until I have a few more. Otherwise I, too, haven’t been in a quilt shop — or any other kind of shop — since early March. I even have my food delivered to the front porch! I have a respiratory problem and being in my 80’s, I don’t want to take any chances. But I’m having fun with my quilting and I’ve just about worn out my google search bar looking for baby quilt fabrics! Keep in touch and I hope you enjoy Missouri Star. Blessings, Carol

  26. I would love to win! These are my to favorite pastimes! Reading and quilting! I’ve been making lots of masks and getting ready for a new granddaughter so now it’s time for a bigger project!
