A LONG SILENCE…

Greeting to my blogging friends (at least I hope you are still my friends after my six-month absence). I have no excuse…I haven’t blogged, but I thought of you often and thank you for

hanging in there with me. I especially appreciate all the emails I’ve received during my absence from the blog. Please keep them coming! I love hearing from you.

I also want to welcome the many new followers who joined during my absence. I think a good way to resume would be to offer free books since many of my new followers may not be familiar with the series. Most of my previous followers have read the books the books also make great gifts for your friends and that helps spread the word.

If you haven’t read the series, it is a ‘cozy’ which is defined as a light mystery that takes place in a particular community and the crime is investigated by a group of friends who are often connected by a particular hobby. In this case, the friends are a group of quilters who live in a retirement community in the mid-west.

I was happy to see that Amazon has included the series in their Kindle Unlimited program. That enables readers to get them on their Kindle or other devices at no cost beyond the monthly fee for Kindle Unlimited which I believe is around $10 a month. You can read a lot of books in a month!

OK, BACK TO FREE BOOKS

Tie Died and Running Stitches are the first two books in The Quilting Cozy series and that’s the place to start! Each of the 12 books in this series can stand alone, but reading them in order gives the reader the advantage of getting to know the characters over time as their relationships grow.

Five winners will each receive the first two books in the series (Tie Died and Running Stitches), signed by the author.

To be eligible for the drawing, you must:

(1) be a follower of the blog. If you aren’t currently a follower, simply click on FOLLOW and sign up with your email address. (Of course, if you received this blog in your email, you are already a follower).

AND (2) leave a message below under COMMENTS saying that you would like to be included in the drawing. (But remember, even if you’ve already read the books, they make great gifts, especially for your older friends and, of course, for quilters!).

In two weeks, June 26th, we will choose FIVE winners using a random number generator and the winners will be contacted by email.

I would love to hear what you’ve being working on during our long hiatis. I know you aren’t all quilters, but I love hearing about all kinds of arts and crafts. You can share with everyone on COMMENTS below or drop me an email at QuiltingCozy@gmail.com and include pictures if you’d like.

As for me, I’ve been making baby quilts for a local program that provides counseling and support to young pregnant teenagers here in West Virginia. The program was originally advertising for counselors but at 85 I felt out of touch with motherhood and instead, I offered to make baby quilts. They have gone over very well! Here are a few examples below. I keep them simple as you can see. In addition to simple patterns, I also use preprinted panels that I find on Etsy. I’ve made 40 and am taking a break in order to get back to a closet full of UFOs. (For my non-quilting followers, those are the unfinished projects that we quilters tend to accumulate. They nag at us from their boxes in the closet.)

I look forward to reading your comments and emails.

REMEMBER TO COMMENT IF YOU WANT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE DRAWING ON JUNE 26th! I hope everyone has a great summer.

My very best wishes,

Carol

  1. Love to win your books. I’ve been longarming a bunch of charity quilts for our local guild. Plus getting together with summer break family members. thanks.

  2. I would love to be in the drawing for the two books! It was so good to get a new letter from you and hearing about how your doing. I was so hoping it was news about a new book in the series. 6. Thanks for the blog, Carol. It is always a good read and I enjoy seeing the quilts you’ve been making. Love the striped one with the giraffe. I made a similar one with a teddy bear for my new great grandson six years ago. Not much quilting happening here now but I can’t still resist the quilt magazines or a stop in a quilt shop. Love that you give us a chance to win your books. I have loaned my books out but recently I GAVE them to our local nursing home. I’ve been told that the ladies there love them…..there is a problem though….I miss them.

  7. I too would love to win your books, Carol! I’ve enjoyed every one of them. At this stage of my life, I’m too tied up in motherhood to find much time for quilting, or any crafting project of my own, but I enjoy teaching my children the crafts I have learned.

  8. I loved , loved your series. I enjoy your snd seeing the quilts. I hope to make one of my own someday. Now I just dream enjoy looking at others. What a wonderful gift and a blessing to give to those babies and their. A reminder that people do care.

    Hugs, Pam

  10. Hi Carol. I’ve read the entire Quilting Cozy series and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Can’t wait for the next one. I have been quilting for over 42 years. I’m convinced it’s an addiction! 🤗. My latest is a wholecloth by Holice Turnbow called Holiday. I love his work.

  11. Hi Carol, great to hear from you! I love all the baby quilts: they are gifts that none of those new mothers will ever forget, you are do8ng good work there! I am looking forward to seeing your completed UFO’s, I have a number of my own to tackle the coming months!

  12. Sure do miss new stories being added to my favorite book series.
I have all your books on kindle. Would love to have an actual book and especially a signed one.
Hope someday you write one more book.

  13. I haven’t read all of your books yet and the ones I’ve read aren’t the first two, so I’d say this is a great idea to enter. So farm I have really enjoyed them!

    • I forgot to mention your lovely quilts! Such a great sampling of what’s been keeping you busy. Yes, I also have quite a few of those nagging UFOs. LOL

  14. I have all of your books in the series, but would still like to be in the drawing for signed books.
I don’t quilt, but I do crochet afghans which are given to people in the hospital or going through chemo.
I love your beautiful baby quilts!

  15. Your books are wonderful. I have the whole series and who ever wins a copy of your books are fortunate. I won las year. I recommend them to anyone who listens and have loaned them out.
I just did a block of the month hand appliqué and have one more class. It is about the honey bee. I also finished a Sashiko item. It is a Japanese lady walking in her garden. I just love it and it was very relaxing. It is going to hang behind a glass door.
I am sure everyone who received a baby blanket really appreciate the quilt. Our quilt guild makes and donates baby quilts and quilts for the women shelter.

  16. So glad to have you back. Sometimes we just need breaks. I follow you via email. I would love to win your books. Have a wonderful summer with lots of friends and happy times. quilting dash lady at comcast dot net
