More Free Books

As promised, I am offering my blog followers another opportunity to win a complete set of my Quilting Cozy mystery series, signed by the author and including the newest release, Beneath Missouri Stars. All eleven books!

The drawing will be held in one week: on Friday, August 7th at noon Eastern Time.

To be eligible for this drawing, you must be a follower of this blog. If you’re not already signed up, go to ‘Follow’ and enter your email address. As a follower, you will receive an email whenever I release a new blog post, but I promise not to inundate you with emails. I usually only do one or two posts per month. (Of course, if you received this announcement in your email, you are already signed up. People who arrived at this website by another means may not be.)

Then simply leave a note under ‘Leave a Reply’ below saying that you are interested in being included in the drawing. The winner will be chosen using a random number generator provided by the publisher.

While you are in the comments section, I’d love for you to tell me a little about yourself. Are you a quilter? What kind of books do you like? Have you read any of this series? How have you spent your time during this challenging period? But you don’t need to write anything at all if you prefer (other than that you want to be included in the drawing). I just really enjoy getting to know my readers and blog followers.

I have chosen to spend these many months quilting. I haven’t been in the mood to take on a large quilt project, but have been making smaller baby quilts instead. I have about fifteen at the moment and will take pictures soon and show them to you in a blog. I’m not sure what I will do with them, but they’ve been just the right size project for now. I have the fun of designing, choosing fabric, and making just a few blocks and then with some simple machine quilting it’s finished! I may take them to a craft table once we resume having craft shows, or maybe an Etsy.com shop. And some may be donated. It’s just been a fun way to spend my time.

Good luck with the drawing and don’t forget to leave your message below.

I would also like to welcome all my new followers. I recently closed my Facebook account and was happy to see many of my Facebook followers joined me here on my blog. Welcome!

My very best wishes to all my readers, followers, friends, and family.

Carol Dean

  1. I’m interested in the books. No, I have not read any of these. Been busy reading, quilting and other hobbies.

  2. I would like to be in the drawing for your set of free autographed cozy series. I have the first one & the last one. I enjoyed reading them.

  3. I would love to win the books and revisit Sarah, Sophie and the gang. I have some ebooks in the set and would greatly enjoy reading the series from start to finish during these stressful times. I’m a hand quilter and the projects have become smaller as I’ve gotten older. I enjoy making baby quilts for Project Linus. They are great stash busters! Carol

    • So glad to read your comment. Yes, my series is best read from beginning to end. There is one completed mystery in each book, but the backstory continues throughout the series and you can watch the relationships as they develop and the characters grow. And I’m SOLD on small quilts!! I’ve made dozens of large quilts in my lifetime and now that I’m in my eighties, I like the small projects: baby quilts, wall hangings, table toppers….
Thank you for joining the drawing. good luck. Carol

  4. I ordered the Stitched Together book, thinking it went with another collection and have since enjoyed the first 5 books. Would love to be included in the drawing for the set.

  5. I love to make new “quilting friends” from book characters and these would be a perfect way to make some new ones!

  6. I would love to be included in the draw. My two favourite hobbies are reading and quilting so I feel these books would be perfect. Thanks

  7. Hi from Quebec😀!
I am a quilter since approximately 12 years, and in an imposed retirement.
Still adapting, and feeling a bit lost 🙃.
I love quilting mysteries like your’s Carol.
I have read a couple from another series and now that I have time, really look forward to reading yours!
    Thank you for your kindness

    • Well, I predict that being a quilter will pull you through the adjustment. I don’t know what I’d do without my quilting. I’ve been making baby quilts and having such fun with the cute fabrics and patterns. I hope you’ll read my books even if you don’t win the drawing (but I will be having other drawings too). My characters are also retired and having a great time. Best wishes, Carol

  8. I’m a quilter but not much of a reader. that’s why I love your books, easy read, relaxing and interesting plots. Like the characters they are believable. have read the first 2 so far and passed them on to other reader/quilters. We are all fans.

  9. I’m embarrassed to admit I haven’t read any of your series, so please include me in the drawing. I’m always looking for good books to read! I’m a quilter and a blogger (heard of you through my friend, Bernie, at Needle & Foot). I also enjoy baking, plenty of reading, and being with my family. I have a cat, Wilbur, who talks a lot and is very curious. Makes life interesting!

    • So glad Bernie told you about my series. I have you on the list now for the drawing, but if you don’t win the drawing I hope you’ll try the series anyway because I predict you will enjoy it — it has quilting and cats, mysteries and relationships. Bernie has some of the books on her website in fact at a better price than Amazon so keep that in mind if you don’t win. Best wishes, Carol

  10. I would love to be included in this give away! I am a quilter and love reading books with a quilty theme and cozy mysteries are my fave! I have been working from home since March, which is nice, but I miss my coe!

  11. I love this series. I wish a new book would magically arrive each month. The characters and stories are endearing. Please include me in the drawing. I have held on to my copy of the series to reread later. If I win I would like to donate them to a nearby retirement house.

    • Don’t think for a moment that I wouldn’t love to magically produce a new book each month!! I’ve had a great time writing these books but someday I’ll reach the end of the series. I don’t know if I’m there now…we’ll see. There is one more with the publisher which will probably come out in the spring of 2021. But who knows?? Once our world settles down, I just might be back at the computer taking Sarah and Sophie off on new adventures. Thanks for your note, Karen. It made me smile.

  12. Love to be in the drawing. Have all the books on kindle but LOVE real books. Love the stories because they are a out seniors still going strong. (I’m 69) . Keep writing about them please.

  13. I am a quilter and enjoy reading about quilts and quilters. So far during the pandemic, I have completed 2 queen sized quilts and completed the blocks for a smaller quilt. Quilting has been a lifesaver for me, and I am sure for others. Thankful for a large stash and lots of patterns. I always knew that stash would come in handy someday!

    • You are so right, Elaine. Those of us who have quilting (or any hobby for that matter) are having a much easier time of this partial quarantine. As you read in my post, I’m having a great time with my baby quilts. The other thing that has saved me is my little dogs. They are such good company. Best wishes, Carol

  14. Please include me in the drawing. I’ve been quilting for 17 years and also enjoy reading, bicycling and walking our Aussie.

  15. Please include me in your drawing. I’ve been able to quilt 3 quilts this year, but I’ve spent most of my time visiting with our grandchildren. We were able to have them all come and stay with us for a while.

    • Congratulations on your three completed quilts! This troublesome time has at least offer us quilters an opportunity to get caught up on UFOs (for you non-quilters out there, that’s quilter’s lingo for unfinished projects). So glad you were able to spend some time with your grandchildren. Best wishes, Carol

  16. Hi Carol! Oh, I would love to be included in the drawing. I think dogs are just the best companions – they lay right on your feet while you’re sewing! Thank you so much for the opportunity. {{Hugs}} Stay safe and healthy. ~smile~ Roseanne

  17. I am interested in being in the drawing. I don’t quilt but I would love to some day. I love cozy mysteries and the books of your series that I have been able to read so far.

  18. I am interested in the draw. I do all sorts of crafts – knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, sewing, gardening, and I love reading, but most important . . . walking the dog, I think that one keeps me sane. There is nothing I like better than making quilts . . . except maybe snuggling under one with one of your Cozy Mysteries! Thank you.

  19. Heard about your book series from a friend. I am interested in reading them, just haven’t found any here yet due to library being closed. I do counted cross-stitch as my passion hobby.

    • I’ve always wanted to do counted cross stitch… I love the end result, but I’ve waited too long. These old eyes could never see those little boxes. Quilting is my passion. Sorry your library is closed. Ours is too. Will this ever end? Well, at least families are getting to know each other again — meals together, board games, picnics. That, at least, is an improvement. Best wishes. Carol

  20. Hi Carol,
I would like to enter the giveaway too, please! I have all your books, but only on Kindle, and nothing beats a ‘real’ book! I gifted my mother the complete printed set for her 81st birthday on July 4th, and she loves them too!

  21. I would love to be in this drawing. It’d be awesome to win this set signed by my aunt on my birthday! I don’t quilt but maybe one day when we can actually meet you can show me. Much love ❤️

  22. Hello!
I would like to be included in the drawing. I am a retired librarian/language arts teacher who loves mysteries and historical fiction. While I love to quilt, I am spending most of my time trying to catch up on housework than went by the wayside while I have been recovering from pulmonary embolisms.

Life here during the pandemic has not been very different than normal. I’m married to a farmer and live in a very rural county. There have been no cases of Covid in the county and our town celebrations have gone on as usual. Our biggest change has been to incorporate social distancing into our church services—-which seems a bit odd after the whole community was together for the Fourth of July. Ah well, this year has been full of surprises.

    • Prayers are with you as you recover. It sounds like a lovely community you are living in and I’m so glad the virus hasn’t caused much disruption. I haven’t been inside a grocery store since March but one store delivers and another shops for me (online ordering) and I simply drive up and they load it into my car. But I’m eager for things to return to normal. Thank you for your note. My very best wishes.

  23. I’d love to be in the drawing for your books. I’m an avid reader of romance and mysteries with no violence. Your quilting cozy books would be a delight. And, yes, I am a quilter!

  24. Very interested!! Would love to win the set. I’ve been quilting for over 20 years now and have a large stack of finished quilts. I haven’t had any luck selling them so I’m considering donating them to a homeless shelter or women’s shelter.

  25. I am very interested in the drawing, Just talking to my sister today that I was on the verge of ordering at least your first book as I love to read quilt fiction the most and then come home and see this post. I love everything about quilting, the history, the pattern, designers, classes, quilt shows, etc., although I am not a prolific quilter. Right at the moment wool applique has my attention but I also like doing paper piecing and have a couple quilts in progress.

  26. I am interested in being included in the drawing.
I quilt as a hobby and read voraciously.
I have discovered cozy mysteries and I am hooked. LOL pun intended LOL
I am sure your baby quilts are lovely. I love making baby quilts also. Just the right size.
I would love to read some of your books.
    Thanks for the opportunity

    • I, too, love cozy mysteries and especially the quilting ones! I guess that’s what drew me in that direction when I started writing after my retirement. My characters are in their seventies and living in a retirement village. They are mysteries but, as a cozy, they are more about relationships. If you win, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them (and if you don’t, I hope you’ll give at least one a try). Best wishes, Carol

  27. I’m interested in being in the drawing. Love to read quilting fiction. I’ve been spending time on a graduation quilt for my granddaughter. Finished that and have been making masks for all the family and going through my many scraps and cutting them into usable sizes.

    • Ah…’cutting them into useable sizes’…that’s what I’ve been struggling with. Bonnie Hunter has a good book, Addicted to Scraps, where she talks about doing just that. I’ve pretty much settled on 5″ strips of everything less than a yard or a fat quarter because I can cut that into 2 1/2″ strip if I want, or 5″ squares. Congratulations on the graduation quilt. I hope your granddaughter was able to enjoy her graduation. Best wishes, Carol

  28. Hi! I’d like to be included in the drawing! I have read all 11 of your books and enjoy them all! I then pass them on to my sister. My hubby and I moved to Tennessee from Ohio in March. I had a job offer which after working for a month, I was told I was payed off—permanently-due to a different direction the company was going in and the virus! Nice huh? I gave up my job in Ohio and then lost my new one! But since I’m close to retirement age I think I’ll sweat it out until then unless I’m able to find another job. Anyway, I do like to quilt and my sewing room is the last place to get organized after our move. I’m slowly getting to it and hope to be back sewing soon! Reading and sewing are my two favorite things besides my husband and my two cats!

  29. thanks for your generosity, Carol. This is an awesome prize draw. I am a quilter, and very much enjoy reading books that include quilting. Thanks again

  30. I’m so glad you enjoyed the books that you have read and I think you’d enjoy the whole set. That would enable you to read them in order which I think is much better because you can watch the relationships develop among the characters. Good luck and take good care during these trying times. Best wishes.

  31. I have read several of your books and really enjoyed them. I would love to win the whole set! There hasn’t been much quilting going on here, although I did make a bunch of masks.

  32. I’d like to be in the drawing. I’ve read most of your books and have loved every one of them . . . I don’t want to give up my books, but will probably make sure that someone receives the books that I haven’t read if I win the series.

  33. Count me in please! I am a self taught quilter and enjoy this series so much….looking forward to the next release!

    • It may not be released until the spring of 2021, but there is definitely one more book in the hopper. I haven’t felt much like writing during these troubled times so I can’t say if there’ll be more after that one. Fantastic that you’ve taught yourself to quilt. It will bring you years of joy. Best wishes, Carol

  34. Please count me in for the drawing! I’ve been spending my free time quilting a king sized quilt on my domestic machine, and learning how to draft patterns for stuffed animals so I can make the characters in my daughters’ book for them to play with.
