I was recently contacted by my publisher, C&T Publishing, and asked to participate in an interview about my books in general and my newest book in particular which was just released, Beneath Missouri Stars.
Although I was very nervous prior to the interview, it turned out to be fun. Amy is a very skilled interviewer and she brought out lots of interesting details from the books and my own life.

A Quilting Cozy Series - Carol Dean Jones

I might have to start ordering fabric too. Elastic has been in short demand.
I’ve made about 10 masks for myself. I had to get cre8tive. Instead of 1/4″ elastic for ear loops I used gros grain ribbon had to fiddle with the size to get it comfy and also tight but I mastered it. Also found another pattern on line with ribbon ear loops and a single tie.
Thank goodness for my quilting scraps they all turned in to masks.

Carol just watched your interview!!! What a thrill to hear your sweet voice. You have the most beautiful hair.
I’m so thankful you have deliveries for your groceries and medicine. Wonderful interview.
Side note: In May I was due to have a Medicare Senior Wellness visit. My doctor’s office asked if I would be interested in doing a virtual chat with my doctor. Much like your interview. Technology is amazing however,
lab work is still in person LOL so next week I have a quick lab visit.

My doc’s office asked which way I wanted to do it and I chose ‘in person’ but now that I see how bad things are getting, I’m going to switch to the virtual method. I don’t really want to go for the lab work, but I think I should since I’ve been terrible with my diet and I’m sure my blood sugar numbers aren’t good. Take care, my friend.

Hi Cecilia, So glad to hear from you!! And I appreciate your kind words about the book and the birthday wishes. I hope all is well on your end…this has been a rough few months. I never noticed spring and now summer is slipping by. I don’t go anywhere and my food is delivered to my front porch. But I’m spending my time making baby quilts. I’m thinking about either a craft table once (or ‘if’) we get out again or maybe an Etsy shop online. But in the meantime, I’m having fun with baby quilts. I’m going to do a blog with pictures of all the ones I’ve done so far. As for fabric, I order it all and, of course, make mistakes occasionally since the color is not always accurate on my computer. Thanks again for your comments about the book. There’s one more, but I don’t know when they’ll release it. Take care and please stay in touch!

Just enjoyed watching your video! Thanks for sharing! I’ve received my copy of your new book and am looking forward to reading it soon. So happy to hear that book 12 is also on the horizon 🙂 Staying isolated is definitely easier with a furry companion. I’m thankful that I adopted a cockapoo (5 years old) last Nov. I had lost my 14 1/2 year old lhaso apso last August. I can’t imagine being isolated without my new companion who’s great company and brings many smiles. Thank you for continuing to share your stories and love of quilting. Continue to stay healthy!
Thank you, Jane. I appreciate your comments and I’m so glad you have your little cockapoo for company. My older Shih Tzu is 14 1/2 and suffering severe arthritis and I’m not sure how much longer I’ll have him. He’s still eating and drinking and has many happy moments (when he doesn’t have to walk around) so it’s not time yet. (actually, I have arthritis myself and I sure don’t want anyone to ‘put me down!’). But the joy of my life has been my little Imperial Shih Tzu. He’s 3 years old and only 9 pounds (that’s between a teacup and a regular Shih Tzu) and I thought he’d be a good size now that I’m in my 80s. It’s hard to pick up my older one and carrying him down the steps. He’s 20 lbs. Okay, enough dog talk. If you get me started I can’t stop. It has just made such a difference in my life. I got my first dog just after my divorce and my last child had gone out on her own and I’ve had a dog companion ever since. So back to books, I hope you #s 11 & 12. I so appreciate your reply to my comments 🙂 Your little furry companion sounds perfect! My cockapoo weighs 20 lbs also, but I rarely need to lift her 🙂 I did consider a smaller dog for the same reasons as you, but happened on to this little girl. I hope you have a great summer!
I enjoyed the interview, learning a little about your life. Having made so many Quilts made me wonder when you began quilting. My first was 1990 in a learn to quilt class. Quilting and books and our parrot give me a reason to get up in the mornings. Our last dachshund died last month. He gave me a reason to go walking. I’m now having to force myself to walk and don’t do it as often. That is my one reason to get out of the house during this covid mess.
Hi Marcia, I’m so sorry for your loss. Dachshunds are such adorable dogs and I know you miss him. I hope you consider getting another dog sometime in the future because they are so good for us, especially the walking but also that unconditional love they have for us. Thank you for watching my video. Now that I’ve learned about Zoom I’ll try to do more video things for my blog. Oh, about the quilting, I started in 1990 also but I retired not long after that so I had full time for quilting and I must admit that I get so eager to see it finished that I don’t take many breaks. Also many of those quilts are not full quills. I love making throws and they are such great gifts. So…thank you Marcia for contacting me. I hope you’ll stay in touch. What lovely words. thank you so much. I feel very close to Sarah and Sophie myself — they seem like friends. As for the dogs, Toby is getting very old and disabled with arthritis but he’s still a sweet, loving dog. Now Casey! There’s the character. he’s three…weighs only 9 pounds…and is full-grown. He has so much personality…and I’ll swear he has a sense of humor. He teases me all the time…stealing things from my laundry basket and making sure I see him before he runs away with it…even threw the doggie door and into the back yard!! Thank you for contacting me. Thank you for sending this, Carol! I really did enjoy it. You look wonderful and I don’t think you are struggling with Quarantine hair like I am. It is a little scary looking into the mirror on some mornings. I plan to get to a hairdresser soon though. I’m starting to read Missouri Stars tonight and I know I will enjoy it. You know I really do usually sit myself down and read your books right away but I’ve kind of enjoyed anticipating this one….probably because I know they go too fast.
Thanks so much for this cozy mystery series. I’m 73 now and I can certainly identify with many of the issues in your books. That isn’t the best part though; I just love Sarah and Sophy and all your characters!!

I’m always happy to see your name appear on my blog. You’ve been a long time loyal reader/follower/friend. I hope you enjoy Missouri Stars and as I said in the interview, there will be one more. As for hair…thanks for the compliment but I can’t accept it in good faith. That hair was the result of a half can of hairspray and it felt like I had plastic hair! Yes, I’ll be off to the ‘groomer’ one of these days. My dogs look as bad as I do. Please stay in touch. Even if the books stop, I’ll be keeping the website and blog for quilting and visiting with all the folks I’ve gotten to know.
