Another book, The Rescue Quilt, Book #7 in The Quilting Cozy series by Carol Dean Jones will be released by C&T Publishing on December 5th. The Rescue Quilt, currently available for pre-order, will be available at C&T Publishing, on Amazon (print and Kindle format), and in bookstores and fabric shops nationwide. This second edition includes directions for making the wall hanging that appears on the cover.
During the writing of The Rescue Quilt, Sarah (in the book) and I (in my sewing room) created the full quilt described in this book. My quilt was made in memory of my little Shih Tzu, Mollye, and was donated to the Robeson County Humane Society, a no-kill shelter in Lumberton, North Carolina, to be used as a fundraiser.
It is my hope that members of quilt guilds and clubs, or simply quilters who want to get together with their friends for an old-fashioned sewing bee, will consider making a quilt to benefit their local animal rescue organizations.
Most of these organizations are staffed predominantly by volunteers, and we’ve all seen their heart-wrenching pleas for donations. They need our help. We may not be able to drive a Pup Mobile like Sophie or act as midwife for pregnant dogs like Bernice, but by donating a raffle quilt, each of us can make a difference.
Quilters are always searching for worthwhile charity projects. Who better to help than the creatures who offer us their unconditional love?
Please leave a comment below. I love hearing from my readers, potential readers, quilters, pet lovers, and everyone else!
Your publishing company is really turning this series out more quickly than I thought they would. The new covers are so enticing, I especially love this one of the puppies. I know that in the past, every time you have created a new quilt, everyone has wanted you to teach it. These new releases are a perfect way to get the pattern along with a great story. I like that. Keep up the great work and let the creative juices flow!
Thank you, Robin. Several readers have already contacted me to say they are making the Tie Died quilt. I had a call from a friend who was at Capital Quilts in Germantown and said my books are in the shop. My daughter saw them in Ventura CA in Barnes and Nobel. They are truly doing a great job!
Thank you, Joyce. The block on the cover has very special meaning to me.
This is a fantastic book and the quilt was beautiful. And the block on the cover of this book is adorable! One of my favorite books! Keep up the good work Carol
This book hit all my “buttons”. Your rescue quilt is absolutely adorable. I love your recommendation to do a charity quilt to be raffled by an animal rescue group. Kudos, Carol.
Thank you, Paula. As you know this issue is very close to my heart.
